Facts:

The facts that led to this suit are that, the plaintiff\respondent was employed by the defendant\appellant as a casual labourer in 1991. On 25th January, 1996 the defendant\appellant made him permanent member of staff and gave him a letter of employment as well as an identity card which were respectively tendered in evidence as Exhibits ‘A’ and ‘B’. On 28th July 2000, the director of the defendant\appellant company informed him that there was no more work for him and gave him a paper to that effect and also offered him half pay for the month of July, 2000 which he refused, and instead had resort to the High Court of Cross River’s State, where he sought against the defendant\appellant the sum of N9,000 (Nine Thousand Naira) being three (3) months salary in lieu of termination of his appointment, the sum of N15,000 (Fifteen Thousand Naira)
